Ethicon VICRYL is a synthetic absorbable braided surgical suture manufactured from polyglactin 910 and coated to enhance handling characteristics while reducing tissue drag during use.

This USP 5-0 violet suture is supplied in a 150 cm length and is provided unarmed, with no needle attached. The extended length and needleless configuration make it particularly suitable for use as a ligature, allowing surgeons to select their preferred needle or apply the suture directly for vessel tying and soft tissue control.

VICRYL sutures are absorbed by hydrolysis, resulting in a predictable and gradual loss of tensile strength as healing progresses, while minimising tissue reaction. The braided construction ensures reliable handling and secure knot performance. Each suture is sterile, single use and supplied in boxes of 12 for professional hospital and clinical environments.
